Letter from the editor
Dear colleagues,
In the current issue, the editorial by Bartsokas Chistos explores how authorship inflation distorts bibliometric metrics and emphasizes the need for more transparent and responsible authorship practices in medical research. In addition, the editorial by Kalafateli Maria examines the emerging role of GLP-1 receptor agonists in MASLD and their potential to address both liver disease and the underlying systemic metabolic dysfunction.
The current issue features four review articles. The first review by Eleftherakis et al. provides a comprehensive overview of the pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic approach, and current treatment strategies of IgG4-related disease, highlighting its multisystem nature and the challenges associated with its diagnosis and management. The second review, authored by Georgiadis et al. systematically synthesizes and critically evaluates current evidence on the epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic approaches, treatment strategies, and broader psychosocial and economic impact of endometriosis, with the aim of identifying knowledge gaps and highlighting emerging directions for improved diagnosis and personalized management. The third review by Roumelioti et al. presents a practical framework that integrates cross-cultural adaptation procedures with psychometric validation and measurement-equivalence testing to support valid and fair comparisons of public health literacy instruments across linguistic and cultural groups. Finally, the review by Marlafeka et al. outlines the current evidence on established and emerging biomarkers of aging, with a focus on frailty, cardiovascular and thrombotic risk, and infection-related conditions in elderly patients, highlighting their role in diagnosis, risk stratification, and personalized clinical management.
